Timber frame construction has fabulous advantages for speed, insulation, cost and appearance, however, fire risk during construction MUST be mitigated. Not only is there a risk of exposed timbers on site but the risk extends to neighbouring properties through radiated heat. Following the prosecution of an architect for endangering life by not adequately considering fire risk during construction (not as a result of an actual incident), the Structural Timber Association (STA) have produced a video explaining how fire risk can be managed during design and construction.
