When asked, 56 per cent of Managers had pulled up at least one member of staff in the previous seven days staff for breaking health and safety rules but had flaunted the rules themselves, so it seems to be a case of “Do as I say, not do as I do”.
Need people to recognise how good you are?
Clients and employers need to demonstrate that they have employed ‘competent’ people. For many, the easiest way to do this is show that someone has successfully attended a relevant course. So whilst a simple course is no substitute for years of experience, the certificate can make it a lot easier to demonstrate competence. Site Supervisors' Safety Training
This course will provide a sound basis for those either currently or intending to undertake supervisory services and it will provide an introduction to health, safety, welfare and environmental issues.
The training provided will be classroom based and use a variety of teaching and assessment methods which will provide a clear understanding of responsibilities and practical steps that will lead to a safe site. Through continuous assessment and a multiple choice examination at the end of the course successful delegates will be issued with a certificate comparable to other training providers. Details
How to manage Health & SafetyWith everything that goes on around us including the ‘day job’, few non specialist managers are aware of their practical obligations under the heading of ‘health & safety’. However, the legal responsibility still applies – especially to directors and senior managers.
Bernard Sims Associates are running a seminar specifically for people with businesses that are not regarded as hazardous like construction, but involving offices, factories, schools agencies, shops etc.
The seminar is ideal for MDs, directors or senior managers of small & medium sized businesses.
This course will include:
The objective of the course is that a non health & safety manager gains an appreciation of their obligations in practice, knows what must be done and how to go about keeping themselves safe, healthy and legal.
A certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the course which will in itself demonstrate that health & safety issues have been taken seriously and taken into account. This can be invaluable in the case of an accident or health claim.
