This half day course is intended for anyone who could be exposed to and at risk of asbestos in the workplace, such as demolition and construction workers, shop-fitters, plumbers, carpenters and maintenance workers. Delegates who complete this course will gain a greater awareness of the types of asbestos likely to be found in the workplace, better identify areas where asbestos could be found and a greater awareness of the types of products within which asbestos was originally included. They will also gain a better understanding of the effects of exposure to asbestos on health, be able to assist in asbestos identification and understand what action to take on discovery. Site Supervisors Safety Training - BSA 003
This 2 day course is specifically tailored for supervisory staff and those about to take on supervisory responsibilities on building and construction sites. The main objectives of this course are to ensure that delegates gain a clear understanding of their responsibilities, the practical steps that will lead to a safe site, and their contribution to health and safety at work. The course will include the Health & Safety and Work Act and relevant regulations, specific site issues such as site set up, controls and work at height, tool box talks, control of subcontractors and control of health issues such as asbestos and silica dust and risk assessment. It also covers effective monitoring of site activities and understanding the importance of timely intervention when bad practice is identified.
This course uses a variety of teaching and assessment methods including various videos. Delegates will be assessed through continuous assessment and a multiple choice examination at the end of the course.
Successful delegates will be issued with a certificate at the end of the course.

Preparing for CSCS (Construction Skills Certificate) for Operatives and Supervisors - BSA 009
This is a one day classroom based course designed to equip you with the underpinning knowledge to pass the CSCS Card Health and Safety online test with ease. The first 15 modules of the course are for site operatives, with an additional module for Site Supervisors.
The course will include an overview of general responsibilities, accident prevention and reporting, health and welfare, manual handling, working at height, PPE, emergency procedure and first aid, safe use of hazardous substances, electrical safety, hand-held equipment and tools, fire prevention and control, safety signs and signals, site transport safety, noise and vibration, excavations and confined spaces. The additional module is Supervisory and Management.

Following the course delegates can apply to for their CSCS card by calling 0844 576 8777. The Health and Safety Test will then be booked. If successful they will be given their Construction Site Operative Green card which is valid for 5 years.

An Introduction to First Aid - BSA 012
The First Aid Regulations require that a risk assessment is undertaken to determine the level of First Aid cover required at any given workplace. If a qualified first aider is not deemed necessary, there may be a requirement for an 'Appointed Person' who would simply pass on any calls for emergency help. However, knowledge of First Aid can be invaluable in many cases and make a real difference to chances of recovery.
This half day course is designed for 6-12 people to gain an understanding of First Aid issues on site. It is relevant for managers and employees who may be the first on the scene of an accident or sudden illness. It is not suitable for qualification as 'Emergency First Aid at Work' (EFAW - One Day) or 'First Aid at Work' (FAW - Three Day) which are recognised first aid qualifications (please ask for details).
