Training

Safe working is a set of skills and attitudes that can be learned, and when the stakes are so high, it makes sense to learn from the best. We’ve been at the forefront of Health & Safety training for over 20 years, and are proud to offer a wide range of time-tested courses.

These include formal courses, seminars and one-to-one sessions, and informal on-site ‘tool-box talks’. Our ‘general’ training courses include:

CDM Regulations Overview for Duty Holders

This half-day course is for any duty holder under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. It provides a practical summary of the regulations and includes an outline of the roles and responsibilities of each duty holder, guidance on how to interpret the regulations, and an update on legislative changes.

This course can be specifically tailored for clients, designers, contractors and principal contractors. Delegates will be assessed during the course and issued with a certificate of attendance.

Asbestos Awareness

This half-day course is intended for demolition and construction workers, shop-fitters, plumbers, carpenters, maintenance workers and anyone who could be exposed to, and at risk of, asbestos in the workplace.

You’ll learn about different types of workplace asbestos and asbestos-containing products, where it could be found and what action to take on discovering it. You’ll also understand the health effects of asbestos exposure.

Delegates will be assessed during the course and issued with a certificate of attendance.

Manual Handling

This half-day course provides an introduction to the hazards and risks involved with manual handling activities. As well as improving your manual handling techniques, you’ll learn about your responsibilities under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations, manual handling in the workplace, injuries and their causes, options for control and manual handling assessment.

The course will be tailored to the delegates’ environments, so is suitable for staff from a wide variety of workplaces including offices, construction sites and healthcare facilities.

Delegates will be assessed during the course and issued with a certificate of attendance.

Fire Safety Awareness

This half-day course will give you a better understanding of fire risk, what to do in the event of a fire, fire precautions, safe evacuation and the different types of fire extinguisher. It’s suitable for anyone who needs to know about fire prevention, general fire safety, and the practical skills to deal with the threat of fire.

Delegates will be assessed during the course and issued with a certificate of attendance.

Fire Risk Assessment

This half-day course will give you the knowledge and skills you need to carry out simple fire risk assessments effectively in the workplace. You’ll learn about the principles and processes of fire risk assessment, legal requirements, fire precautions and fire hazards, including the ‘fire triangle’.

Delegates will be assessed during the course and issued with a certificate of attendance.

Fire Marshal

This course is specifically designed for anyone acting as a fire marshal in the workplace.
It provides in-depth coverage of what to do in the event of a fire, fire precautions, safe evacuation, fire safety checks, alarm tests, equipment checks, human behaviour and the different types of fire extinguisher (although you won’t get to play with them – sorry!)
At the end of the course, there will be a mock fire drill and a test, with a certificate of attendance.

Site Waste Management Plans

This half-day course is for managers and those with responsibility for on-site construction, cost savings or environmental site management (even though there is no longer a legal requirement to carry out this process).

You’ll learn how to compile an environmental waste plan, and gain a clear understanding of environmental legislation, hazard identification, best practice and the construction industry’s impacts on the environment. You’ll also learn how to prepare, conduct and record Construction Waste Plans.

Delegates will be assessed during the course and issued with a certificate of attendance.

Health & Safety for Senior Manager and Directors

Aimed at directors and senior executives operating at policy and strategic levels, this course focuses on promoting and achieving acceptable safety standards in line with relevant legislation, including the Corporate Manslaughter & Corporate Homicide Act 2007, and its integration into day-to-day management.

It will give you a better understanding of your corporate and personal responsibilities under current health and safety law, key elements of good safety management, financial considerations relating to health and safety, and how to develop a positive safety culture. Delegates will be issued with a certificate of attendance.
