The Health and Safety Executive is carrying out random spot checks and inspections on all types of businesses in all areas to ensure they are COVID-secure.

They are undertaking these random spot checks during which they can give advice on how to manage the risks and protect workers, customers and visitors.  They are also working very closely with local authorities, assisting them in the sectors they regulate such as hospitality and retail.
By doing these spot checks and inspections, it means the HSE can speak to employers directly and check that the measures that they have put in place are in line with government guidance to protect themselves and their workforce.

Inspectors will make COVID-secure checks as part of their normal role in visiting workplaces during the pandemic. The HSE are currently working with trained and approved partners to undertake the spot checks and inspections so that they can reach as many workplaces as possible.
